Real ale, local cider and homemade honest pub food.
The Halfway House is an authentic rustic pub with a slate floor worn smooth by the tread of generations of drinkers, a faint scent of wood smoke from the fireplaces and the delicious scent of home cooking coming from the kitchen. Also with a fenced garden which has tables and benches to relax and enjoy.
The pub offers a great selection of beers, ales and ciders drawn straight from the barrel and a menu of real homemade hearty food. With a devoted following from both the village and further a field, the friendly atmosphere is filled with chatter and laughter especially at the regular events. You’ll also hear the sound of the occasional dog snoring in the corner, without a blaring jukebox or TV.
Mark Phillips and his three generations of family run the Halfway. His Dad the book keeper, brother Adam helps run the pub with Mark, wife Claire occasionally helps out in the kitchen and not forgetting Mark's son Harrison, who is the meeter greeter as well as the future bar man. Mark and his family ensure customers receive the best choice of real ales, ciders and good food to go with it.
The Halfway has won Somerset CAMRA pub of the year 1995 1997 2001 2003 2011 2015! As well as being runners up. Awarded 5 stars for its wholesome food and hospitality and received Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2016.
